Costa Rica Fishing Boat Captain

We would like you to meet Costa Rica fishing boat Captain Jesus Mendez. When Captain Jesus was a young fellow his father was a commercial scuba diver and commercial fisherman for many years of his life.

Captain Jesus's father wanted his sons to learn a skill they could use in their lives as adults living in Costa Rica. So Jesus's father taught him and his brother Genaro all aspects of boating, watersports, and of course deep sea fishing.

Captain Jesus was born in Playa del Coco 47 years ago and has been a commercial fisherman, commercial scuba diver, and international scuba diving guide for over 25 years, which began one year after the high school. We can't forget that he is also an expert sportfisherman and has caught all the well known big game species of Costa Rica.

Captain Jesus has enjoyed Fishing in Guanacaste his entire life, well at least as long as he could hold a fishing rod. He knew for a long time he would work on the water. Jesus doesn't like sitting in an office do his work as he prefers to work on the deep blue sea.

When he was a young man he was studying Oceanography for a year (after the high school) but after that he started to work as commercial fisherman.

He knows Papagayo and Tamarindo beach fishing region very well. He loves to fish with live bait and he also practices catch and release for billfishing and rooster fishing too so he can do his part to preserve the ocean for future generations of sportfishermen.

He also worked as scuba diving guide and sportfisherman at the Ocotal resort for about 9 years.

As a commercial scuba diver he hunted for lobster and oysters in the Papagayo Gulf. That was many years before the region of Tamarindo and Papagayo became such a popular tourist and sport fishing destination for Costa Rica.

On a personal note you will find that all our crews and Captains, including our top Captain Jesus Mendez are very personal and friendly. They are very patient with all their charter customers and will help you catch your fish in every way possible. Captain Jesus enjoys fishing very much but gets an even bigger thrill from seeing his customers catching fish and enjoy themselves to the fullest.

We will pick you up by boat and for free from the Riu Guanacaste and from Paradisus Papagayo Bay in the gulf of Papagayo to be opened by July, 2013.
